The City of Harrisonburg levies a personal property tax on all taxable tangible personal property located in the City. Items of personal property that are taxable include:
Holiday Parade
New Year's Day - City Offices Closed
City of Harrisonburg offices will be closed Monday, January 1, 2024 in observance of the New Year's holiday. City offices will reopen Tuesday, January 2 at 8:00am.
Refuse for Monday, January 1 will be collected on Tuesday, January 2.
The Recycling Convenience Center and Mobile Unit will be closed Monday, January 1.
Bus service: There will be no bus service on New Year's Day (January 1).

Civic and Community Organizations Funding Application Packet
The City of Harrisonburg civic and community organizations grant program, commonly referred to as community contributions, provides an opportunity for qualified non-profit organizations that deliver services to Harrisonburg residents to receive funding from the city. City Code Section 4-2-9 states that each outside agency or charitable organization which requests a financial contribution from the City or currently receives a financial contribution from the City must submit its application by January 30th of each year.
