The mission of the Public Works Department is to enhance the quality of life of our citizens by providing efficient public services, protecting the public interest with good environmental policies, enforcing codes, and constructing, operating, and maintaining the City's infrastructure.
With nearly 100 employees, the Public Works Department strives to enhance the quality of life of our citizens by providing an efficient collection of refuse, point of deposit for recyclable items, maintenance of city streets, maintenance of traffic signals and street signs, transportation planning, improving the connectivity of bicycling and walking paths, championing environmental initiatives including stormwater management, creating a pollinator corridor, and restoring the health of Blacks Run and the City's urban tree canopy, and construction of new transportation facilities, all while encouraging our community to responsibly and sustainably use our available resources.
